We have a bang-up start to the summer with three consecutive road trips that include one first-time event:
July 10 — Our annual theater outing will be a performance of “42nd Street,” the iconic musical at the Mac-Haydn Theatre in Chatham.
July 17 — Our hometown ValleyCats will be taking on Aberdeen in a New York-Penn League pro baseball game at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, Hudson Valley Community College. We’ll have our annual pre-game picnic at the pavilion there.
July 24 — Rotarians from throughout the area financially support the Rotary Scout Reservation in Averill Park. However, not many visit the facility. We’re remedying that with a buffet dinner with the Scouts and a tour of the facilities that will give us an idea why the camp gets such laudatory notices.
After that, we’re hoping to visit various members’ homes as we do each summer. Since Jim Mendrysa won’t be able to cater the events because of other commitments this summer, we’re making them “potluck” events with each member bringing a dish. Hosts will coordinate the dishes with the membership.
(We then are off for the Labor Day week and resume regular meetings at Quigley’s on September 11.)
Please let Bill Dowd know ASAP if you’re willing and able to play host on one of these five days.
