From The Times Union (2/13/14):

Little Brook Farm [recipient of several SRC grants] came from behind to win the first round of voting in the “Capital Region Gives” promotion, receiving nearly 2,000 of the more than 6,100 votes cast in the “Animals” category.

Located in Old Chatham, the farm is one of the oldest and largest rescue organizations in the Northeast, home to 64 horses as well as a number of cats, dogs and other animals. Advocating for the humane treatment of all animals, owner Lynn Cross and her daughter, Summer Brennan, lead a team of dedicated volunteers to provide therapeutic programs for children through B.I.T.S. — Balanced Innovative Teaching Strategies.

Little Brook moves on to the final vote in the promotion, which will award $15,000 in prizes to two local nonprofits: $5,000 in cash plus $5,000 in-kind advertising in the Times Union to the first-place winner, and $5,000 in-kind advertising in the Times Union to the second-place finisher.
