Eric James Percy, 79, of East Greenbush died peacefully at home after a long illness on June 25.
Eric, born in the United Kingdom, earned his doctorate in organic chemistry at the University of London before working in research and development for a number of multinational companies around the world. He and his family moved to the United States in the mid-1980s and he eventually owned and ran his own business in the Albany area.
Eric was an avid rugby player in his youth and continued to play many sports and sail throughout his life.
He was the beloved husband of 53 years of Margaret Percy, devoted father of Nicola Streeter and her husband Greg Streeter, as well as his son Adrian Percy and his wife, McClain Selden Percy, proud grandfather of William Percy, age 11, and Lucie Percy, age 9. Eric was the brother of Dianne and Yvonne and a loving uncle to their children.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. The family has requested that those who wish to make memorial contributions in his name [do so] to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Boulevard, Rensselaer, NY 12144.
Footnote: Eric was an active member of the East Greenbush Rotary Club and later the Southern Rensselaer County Rotary Club until his health made it impossible for him to continue. The Club extends its deepest sympathies to Eric’s family and friends in their mourning.
