The proliferation of suicides among military personnel, veterans and their families will be addressed at a town hall forum scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Hudson Valley Community College.
The event is being sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Capital Region chapter and the Center for Counseling & Transfer at HVCC.
Keynote speakers will be Major General Mark Graham, U.S. Army (retired), and his wife, Carol. A “Veterans Self-Check Quiz” will be featured by Dr. Ann Haas, AFSP’s Senior Director of Education and Prevention.
The AFSP is a national non-profit organization exclusively dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide.
The forum will be held in HVCC’s Bulmer Telecommunications Center. Registration, which is free, is requested by March 4 online or by calling AFSP at 791-1544.
