Albany County has teamed up with Best Cleaners and the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society (HATAS) to collect coats for veterans, families, homeless and others in need, a project they’re calling “Katie’s Koats.”
The project was created by Kaitlyn Drobner, who works at PG’s Cafe in Albany County headquarters at 112 State Street. Donations are being accepted at Albany County offices there and 162 Washington Avenue and 175 Green Street, all in the city of Albany, and at all 11 Best Cleaners locations.
The goal is to collect 2,000 to 2,500 coats and other winter clothes, which HATAS and the Albany County Veterans Service Bureau will distribute.
Best Cleaners, incidentally, accepts donated clothing year-round, but this month will concentrate on the donated coats and clean them at no charge.
