• The SRC Board agreed to provide a $2,500 grant to Little Brook Farm to support its equine rescue and child therapy programs. Bill and April were unable to present the check this week due to the weather. They expect to do so in the next week.
• President Peter discussed the upcoming Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) scheduled for Saturday, October 20 , at Siena College. The club will financially support anyone wishing to attend. Register online, then let Treasurer Murray know you have done so. As of this meeting Mark Hoyt, Debbie Rodriguez and April Dowd are planning to participate.
• Peter read a note from District Governor Melissa Ward, asking that we consider canceling our November 8 meeting to allow members to instead attend the Foundation event in Saratoga Springs. Peter said he would take an informal poll of members before acting.
Program: Facebook, Twitter and Other Social Media
Club webmaster Bill Dowd (standing in top photo) demonstrated how to use Facebook, concentrating on the club’s account and how to access it, as well as tips on creating or modifying one’s own Facebook account.
He noted that you could we could visit the club website for news and information, then use its direct link to our Facebook page.
Bill also explained how one Illinois club used a Rotary PR grant to participate in the Facebook Advertising program, and reaching more potential members and the community at large at a low cost of 36¢ per thousand contacts.

Bill also answered many questions about Facebook, Twitter and social media in general, as well as explaining ways to avoid having personal information misued by others.
