We enjoyed a good meeting last week with President Jim Leyhane sharing his plan for this year. The key points Jim is focusing on:
• Rotary Foundation giving and support of Rotary
• Membership, with a goal of five (5) new members
• Student programs, including foreign exchange, RYLA and International Food Night
• Club-sponsored special dinners throughout the year
• Fundraisers, including car wash tickets, bowling event and the annual Rotary Run
Jim is asking all clubs members to stay active and involved in Rotary. If you have an idea for an activity bring it forward to the club.
Jim also reminded us of the Gift of Life dinner this week and how to donate through the club. Our goal is to donate $1,000 for event, so please consider a donation and see Murray Forth.
We also are trying raise $1,000 for local community flood relief. We have raised over $500 at this time. Jim and Peter are investigating the best way to get the funds into local Rotary clubs or one of the local TV stations to help. They will report back this week on which way to donate the funds. Rotary is not just giving money; it is supporting our communities and other Rotary activities.
Please remind me if you are attending the meeting this week. I need to get a dinner count for Jim Mendrysa. I will have a sign-up sheet at the meeting so I do not have to ask each week about attendance. Please let me know ASAP if you will be at this week’s meeting.
Peter Brown will be our speaker this week, sharing important information about the Affordable Health Care Act. This is an important topic as the legislation is impacting all of us. Do you know how it is impacting you?
