President Terry’s weekly message

• Week of March 21, 2011.

Dear SRC Rotarians:

A great meeting last week with Collin McConville from Harvest Spirits Distillery at Golden Harvest Farms. The presentation on the distillery was excellent. Collin provided a very informative session with delightful conversation and samples from Harvest Spirits. Thanks to Charlie Foote for having Collin speak to the club.

This week we have a speaker from Peaceful Kingdom Animal Rescue who Charlie is bringing. The program sounds very interesting, so give Charlie and wife Barbara our support as we welcome our speaker.

The “Bowling Over Polio” event raised $500 for our club’s contribution to Rotary International’s PolioPlus project. Our year-long goal is to contribute $1,000. A special thanks to all club members for helping reach the commitment.

The Rotary Run planning committee met prior to our meeting last week. The event is coming together with the assistance of Rick Hannamann working with the committee. Peter Brown is serving as registration chair; Rob Mangold and Ron Annis have taken on the race sponsorship effort. Rob has the 10 businesses committed for the event T-shirt at $100 per business. Ron is working on the mile-marker sponsorships from which we are looking to raise $800. We will discuss other needs for the Run at our meeting this week.

I have the following 22 individuals signed up for dinner this week: Ron Annis, Pat Bailey, Terry Brewer, Deb Brown, Peter Brown, Doris Calamaras, Bill and April Dowd, Dick Drumm, Russ Edberg, Phil Egan, Charlie and Barb Foote, Murray Forth, Bill Kneissl (back from Florida), Jim Leyhane, Len Leonidas, Rob Mangold, Jim Mandrysa, Steve Phelps, Debbie Rodriquez and guest.
