President Terry’s weekly message

• Week of October 25.

Dear SRC Rotarians:

We had an entertaining presentation on the Hudson River/Adirondacks by Fred LeBrun at our meeting last week. The presentation, with beautiful pictures of the Upper Hudson River and Adirondack Mountains, provided for an exceptional meeting.

We had a nice turnout by our membership and special quests. The speakers we have at our meetings appreciate the efforts of our club and have enjoyed the opportunity to present to our group. This week our guest speaker is Patricia Sahr, director of the Nassau Free Library. She will be introduced by Pat Bailey. As always, friends and guests are welcome to attend our Rotary meetings.

I am please to share that we are making progress toward our club goals for this year. A quick update:

Membership: 2 of 12 projected new members for the club; 2 of 3 shelter box contributions (Carol Orvis and I sharing a box, Jim Leyhane and Dick Drumm sharing a box); PolioPlus donation of $2,500 (Phil Spencer memorial) and $250 from CHS; other fund raisers upcoming; dinner, car wash tickets and pens still available to all members.

Committee chairs should contact your committee members to meet prior to one of our meetings in the next two weeks. I will be asking for committee updates at our first meeting in November.

The following 18 persons have signed up for dinner this week; Pat Bailey and Patricia Sahr (guest), Terry Brewer, Deb Brown, Peter Brown, Jason Brown, Doris Calamaras, Bill Dowd, Dick Drumm, Russ Edberg, Phil Egan, Murray Forth, Mark Hoyt, Bill Kneissl, Len Leonidas, Jim Leyhane, Steve Phelps, Rommel Tolentino. If you have signed up but now cannot make the meeting, please let me know.
